So, what is it?

Nuffield Research Placements provide approximately 1,000 students each year with the opportunity to work alongside professional scientists, technologists, engineers, quantitative social scientists, and mathematicians and placements are available across the South West, in universities, commercial companies, voluntary organisations and research institutions. Students in the first year (Year 12) of a post-16 STEM course (including social sciences, geography, economics, and psychology) are eligible to apply, with a key focus on young people who:

 

• Live, or have lived in, local authority care.

• Live in a family that has a combined household income of below £30,000 a year, or are entitled to free schools' meals, either now or at any time in the last six years or are entitled to discretionary payments at school/college.

• Will be the first in their immediate family to participate in higher education (not including any older siblings).
